A leak detector is a device specially used to detect the leakage flow of gas or liquid in an object or system. Its working principle is mainly based on fluid mechanics, and the leakage flow is determined by measuring the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the detected object. The leak detector is mainly composed of a differential pressure sensor and a vacuum pump. When the object to be detected is connected to the leak detector, the vacuum pump creates a negative pressure inside the object to be detected, and then the differential pressure sensor detects the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the object to be detected. When there is a leak in the object to be detected, the pressure inside the leak port will be higher than the pressure outside the leak port. The leakage flow is proportional to the pressure difference. The differential pressure sensor can measure the difference and convert it into leakage flow for calculation.
Leak detectors are mainly divided into two types: portable and fixed. Portable leak detectors are generally used for field detection, such as pipelines, containers, etc.; fixed leak detectors are suitable for online monitoring of gas or liquid storage tanks, chemical plants and other places.
When using a leak detector, you first need to prepare the leak detector and the corresponding leak detection agent, and then select the appropriate leak detection agent according to the material of the object to be detected and the detection requirements. At the same time, the surface of the object to be detected needs to be kept clean, free of impurities such as oil and dust. The leak detector needs to be preheated before detection. Spray the leak detection agent on the surface of the object to be detected, or soak the object to be detected in the leak detection agent, and observe the changes in the leak detection agent after a certain period of time. If the leak detection agent has foam or color changes on the surface or inside of the object to be detected, it means that the object to be detected has defects.
Based on the test results, the defect type and location of the object to be detected can be preliminarily determined. If the test results are uncertain, multiple tests can be performed or other test methods can be used for verification. At the same time, it should be noted that different types of leak detection agents have different effects on the object to be detected, and they need to be selected according to the actual situation.
In short, the leak detector is a very important detection equipment that can effectively detect leakage problems in objects or systems, ensure production safety, and reduce resource waste.
